Minister of Education, Science and Innovation Anđela Jakšić-Stojanović and Director of the State Property Administration, Koča Đurišić, signed an agreement today by which the building of the former Children's Department of the "Dr Simo Milošević" Institute in Igalo was transferred to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MPNI), with the aim of adapting it for the needs of primary education.
This was announced today by the Ministry of National Education and Research.
"We would like to remind you that at its session held on April 3, 2025, the Government of Montenegro adopted a conclusion transferring the building of the former Children's Department within the 'Dr Simo Milošević' Institute to the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation for management. In accordance with the restructuring plan of this company and based on the Government's decision, the State Property Administration purchased this building, whose basic area is 1.897 square meters, while the total area is 4.685 square meters," the statement said.
The Ministry of Education and Science added that the working team formed by the ministry will analyze the facility's needs for adaptation to school conditions, as well as the current condition of the facility, which has not been used for its primary purpose for many years.
"The team's task will also be to draft a project brief in order to agree on the preparation of technical documentation for its reconstruction as soon as possible. We believe that all prerequisites for announcing a tender for the works will be met in the second half of the year," the statement reads.
Jakšić-Stojanović emphasized that the signing of this contract is of great importance for improving the quality of educational infrastructure in Herceg Novi.
"Resolving this issue will provide better conditions for the education of students at the "Ilija Kišić" primary school, as well as a number of students from Igalo who attend classes in other schools in the territory of the Municipality of Herceg Novi. If the implementation of the activities proceeds according to the planned dynamics, we expect that students from Igalo will finally attend classes in the place where they also reside," she said.
