Minister of Sports and Youth Dragoslav Šćekić and Acting Director of the Gaming Authority Spasoje Papić signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.
"The goal of this strategic document is to improve cooperation between the two institutions through joint activities aimed at protecting young people from the negative consequences of gambling, promoting healthy lifestyles, as well as developing educational and preventive programs in the field of sports and social responsibility," the Ministry announced.
They said that the memorandum envisages the implementation of specific activities in several areas, including the organization of educational campaigns and workshops, research on the impact of gambling on young people, the promotion of sport as a healthy choice, and work on improving the legislative framework relating to the financing of sports from gambling revenues.
Special emphasis was placed, as announced, on the need for systemic protection of minors and the joint development of policies and strategies that will contribute to the creation of a healthier and more responsible social environment.
"This memorandum represents an important step towards a more comprehensive approach to preventing negative phenomena that can affect young people. Through a partnership with the Gaming Authority, we want to further strengthen the mechanisms for protecting children and young people and at the same time support the development of sports as the foundation of a healthy society," emphasized Šćekić.
"The signing of this memorandum represents an important step towards the systematic and responsible prevention of the negative consequences of gambling among young people. Cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth opens up the possibility of joint action through educational programs, campaigns and research, which will provide young people with the necessary information and skills to make responsible decisions. We pay special attention to the protection of minors and therefore I believe that this cooperation will bring concrete results in building a society that recognizes and responsibly manages the challenges of the modern era," Papić emphasized.
The Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Gaming Authority will form a joint working group that will monitor the implementation of activities and prepare a report on the progress of cooperation.
