The palm tree in Podgorica's Bokeška Street, which has been unable to grow for years due to a canopy, will not be "liberated" after all, the company "Zelenilo" told "Vijesti".
According to them, the first man of that company Petar Krivokapić Last August, he initiated the removal of the controversial canopy with the Agency for Construction and Development of Podgorica. He said at the time that they had received several requests from citizens living in nearby buildings to vacate it.
"We have been trimming its crown, and now it is its turn to be free and develop to the pride of the people who have put in the effort to maintain it all these years," Krivokapić said earlier.
"Zelenil" emphasized that it is important to provide conditions for its unhindered further growth and development, and therefore its longevity.
"Since the removal of the canopy is not within the jurisdiction of this company, unfortunately, we are unable to remove it. This company continuously and in accordance with the plant care calendar carries out all necessary maintenance work on the said palm tree," said "Zelenil".
They reminded that the development of public green areas is carried out in accordance with the Program for the Performance of Communal Activities, which, as they said, "has not yet been adopted for 2025, bearing in mind that the adoption of the Capital City budget for the current year was carried out in January, i.e. several months later than in previous years."
"Certainly, this company is currently implementing numerous previously initiated projects, such as the construction of a park in Zabjelo in the immediate vicinity of the 'Oktoih' elementary school, the reconstruction of Karađorđev Park, the landscaping of the boulevard towards Danilovgrad, and the like. During the implementation of all previous projects, great attention was paid to greening, i.e. planting trees, and when selecting species for planting, care was taken to ensure that they were adapted to the conditions of Podgorica, so plane trees, košćele, cypresses are most often planted...", they said.
