Miroslav Sindik, an employee of the Municipality of Tivat, has recently become the owner of a smart cane that makes it easier for people with low vision and visual impairments to move around.
The procurement of this modern aid was carried out by the Secretariat for Social Affairs of the Municipality of Tivat.
"In this way, we provided additional support to our colleague, for whom the cane will facilitate daily movement and functioning. In addition to this, the Secretariat also carries out other activities in accordance with the municipal Local Action Plan for the Integration and Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities," emphasized Secretary for Social Affairs Olivera Mišković-Vidojević.
For the past three years, the Municipality of Tivat has provided financial support to the NGO Initiative for Youth with Disabilities Boka – I MI Boka, which is a licensed provider of free taxi transportation services for people with disabilities. As a result, three people with disabilities from Tivat, who use some assistive devices, have used the free taxi transportation service.
For these purposes, the Municipality of Tivat annually allocated around 1.500 euros.
The Secretariat notes that they are open to various forms of cooperation when it comes to projects and initiatives aimed at the inclusion of persons with disabilities and improving their living standards.
