The Secretariat for Social Affairs of the Municipality of Tivat provided "health bags" with healthy foods for all users of the community living support service - "Help at Home" in that city, which were delivered to them yesterday and today by geronto housewives and young volunteers of the Tivat Red Cross.
In this way, 19 years of geronto-services and active care for the elderly in Tivat, which has been provided by the Tivat Red Cross since 2006 with the support of the local government, were symbolically marked.
"The success of this program lies in cooperation with institutions - the Municipality of Tivat, which covers all costs for beneficiaries, and the Tivat Health Center and the Center for Social Work, with which communication is direct and full of support both in emergency interventions and everyday work," the Tivat Red Cross Municipal Organization points out.
For the implementation of the "Home Help" program, the Municipality of Tivat allocates 60.000 euros annually.
The service provider - OO Red Cross Tivat, based on the decision and license, hires geronto-housekeepers, creates weekly and monthly schedules, takes care of user complaints, as well as all the details to make the program work.
The service includes: food procurement, assistance with meal preparation and feeding; assistance with movement; assistance with maintaining personal hygiene and hygiene of the space; assistance with heating the space; assistance with purchasing newspapers and books and paying bills for electricity, telephone, and utilities; mediation in providing various types of services for maintaining the apartment and household appliances; procurement of medications and taking beneficiaries to medical examinations.
The right to use this service in 2025 was granted to 46 persons from 36 households in Tivat based on the decision of the Center for Social Work, and the Municipality of Tivat has been fully financing the costs of implementing this program for years, which are borne by the beneficiaries.
