The obligation of institutions is to provide support, safety and dignity to every family, especially those at risk, said the Minister of Social Welfare, Family Care and Demography, Damir Gutić.
This department, in cooperation with the Center for Social Work for the municipalities of Berane, Andrijevica and Petnjica, organized a festive event in Berane today to mark May 15th - International Family Day.
"Our mission is to ensure that no family is forgotten, that every child has the right to a happy childhood, and every parent to support and understanding," Gutić said, as announced by the Ministry.
He says that in the previous period, the Ministry "implemented a series of measures aimed at strengthening support for families" - from introducing legal and psychological assistance in all municipalities, to increasing support for newborn children, to implementing programs for harmonizing family and work life and campaigns against violence.
He paid special attention to the importance of foster care.
"Your commitment shows that family is not just a blood relationship, but a community of love, understanding and mutual care," said Gutić, adding that the Ministry will continue to develop family support services, improve the legal framework and empower local communities.
The President of the Municipality of Berane, Đole Lutovac, emphasized the importance of joint action by the local community and institutions in order to strengthen support for the family.
“The Municipality of Berane, through support for young couples, children, the elderly, as well as through promoting a balance between family and work obligations, creates conditions for a life worthy of every person. Our goal is to create a society in which every family will live safely and with dignity. This task is not at all easy in times of economic, demographic and social challenges. However, it is important that we cherish common values such as trust, solidarity, respect and love.”
Director of the Center for Social Work, Petar Pajković, thanked all participants and reminded them of the Center's role in improving social protection and close cooperation with families in the field.
"Thanks to the Ministry's continued support, we are able to provide concrete assistance to families in need. Events like this are an opportunity to remind each other how crucial family, understanding and mutual care are for the development of a healthy society."
As part of the ceremony, awards were also presented for the most successful works in the literary and art competition "My Family".
