A new park was opened today in Podgorica, in the immediate vicinity of the “Oktoih” Elementary School in Zabjelo. The value of the works amounted to around 500.000 euros.

The Capital City says that residents of that part of the city and surrounding neighborhoods have gained a new space for playing and socializing.

The park covers an area of 8.300 square meters, and was opened by Mayor Saša Mujović, who expressed his satisfaction that this part of the city "has gained a representative and beautiful space that citizens will enjoy."

"Today we are opening the park in Zabjelo and I think this is one of the most beautiful gifts we could give to the citizens of this part of the city on the eve of Independence Day. This is a large area with a truly rich content and I think it will be a real paradise, primarily for children, and I am sure that the park will be very popular, considering that this part of the city is populated," said Mujović.

He thanked the previous city administration, which started the project last year.

"We have continued on this path and have invested a lot of effort to finalize all of this and to hand over this park to the citizens today, on the eve of Independence Day. We hope that, above all, children will enjoy the facilities here, there are also volleyball and basketball courts, where some new aces will be created for the needs of the Montenegrin national team. I have no doubt that this park will prove to be a great success and a great gain for this city," said Mujović.

The capital city recalls in a statement that works on the construction of the park began in October last year, and were primarily carried out by the city company "Zelenilo", according to the conceptual design and project they developed themselves.

"The area is completely fenced, new LED lighting, recreational equipment, as well as basketball and volleyball courts have been installed. In addition, walking paths with canopies and a children's playground with urban furniture have been built, and the area has been further enriched with plant life. In addition to 'Zelenil', the works were carried out by the Housing and Communal Services Agency, and their value is around 500.000 euros," the statement reads.
