The capital city of Podgorica has announced a competition for a conceptual design for the development and revitalization of the plateau in the Gorica park-forest.
The goal, they said, is to restore this significant natural resource, which has previously suffered serious damage due to fire.
"The revitalization of this space, which covers an area of 34.035,74 square meters, aims not only at ecological restoration, but also at improving the ambient and social values of the Gorica Park Forest. The conceptual solution that is chosen can also serve as a model for future projects of urban forest development and revitalization in urban areas throughout Montenegro," they announced yesterday, adding that the competition is open until July 7, 2025.
The competition jury, as announced by the Capital City Office, consists of: Svetlana Perović, Mirjana Đurišić, Gavrilo Vukovic, Vuk Marković i Duška Macic.
The total prize fund of the competition, as they said, is 25.000,00 euros, of which 12.000 euros were allocated for the first place, 6.500 euros for second place, 3.500 euros for third place, as well as three buyouts of 1.000 euros each.
The competition specified that in previous years this area had been affected by serious fires several times, and despite several actions to clean up burnt plant material, the consequences of the great devastation of this area are still visible.
They also explained that the Gorica Forest Park is highly susceptible to fires because it is afforested with coniferous forests that produce a significant amount of resin, as well as due to specific climatic conditions, characterized by very long, dry and hot summers.
They invited those planning to apply for the conceptual design competition to consider features such as a "green" outdoor classroom to organize smaller cultural events with the possibility of setting up a movie screen, an open stage, or an amphitheater that can be separated, which can also serve as an outdoor classroom.
They suggested that the applicants consider in their conceptual designs that the plateau also include a café bar with toilets, an experimentation playground, an outdoor gym, and that the existing sports field be converted into a multifunctional sports and recreational area...
