The foundation of justice and the rule of law can only be an efficient, transparent and fair judiciary, said the President of the Supreme Court, Valentina Pavličić, stating that the exchange of experiences is the key to further improving the judicial systems of the region.

Pavličić, as announced by the Supreme Court of Montenegro, addressed the participants of the Annual Professional Conference of Judges - Judges' Days 2025, organized by the Supreme Court of Cassation of Serbia.

In her address to prominent representatives of the judiciary, she spoke about the importance of regional cooperation, reforms, and preserving judicial independence.

"It is our obligation to lead judicial reforms that are not easy, but necessary. Only an efficient, transparent and honest judiciary can be the foundation of justice and the rule of law," said Pavličić.

She pointed out the importance of strengthening judicial independence, emphasizing that this is a basic prerequisite for a fair trial and the protection of citizens' rights.

"The independence of judges is not a privilege, but a conditio sine qua non for true justice," Pavličić stated.

Speaking about the importance of joint action, she emphasized that cooperation between judicial institutions in the region is crucial in order to jointly face the challenges of modern society.

Pavličić stressed that she is confident that this year's consultation will bring useful discussions on innovations and concrete steps to strengthen justice and the rule of law throughout the region.

"The focus of the conference, which was held in Vrnjacka Banja, was on the following topics: Using evidence collected from encrypted applications (Sky ECC and others), protecting the safety of journalists - a civil law review of the rights that are protected, active legitimacy for filing a lawsuit due to the silence of the administration, and legal and judicial rehabilitation," the statement said.
