Karađorđev Park in the center of Podgorica was officially opened in a new look.
As stated by the delegation of the Capital City, led by Mayor Saša Mujoević, almost 700.000 euros have been invested in the renovation of the park.
As "Vijesti" has written on several occasions, the renovation of the park lasted for several months, and citizens had significant objections. Specifically, they complained about the prolonged work, because the reconstruction, instead of the originally promised 70 working days, took longer. More recently, they complained about the installed metal benches, which, according to many, are ugly and impractical during the summer months.
The works began at the end of October last year, and the reconstruction plan, as previously announced by Podgorica's "Zelenil", envisaged the planting of approximately 300 tree and shrub seedlings.
The city delegation, during the opening, which began much earlier than planned in the press release they sent to the media, said that they owed great respect and gratitude to the previous mayor, Olivera Injac, during whose mandate the reconstruction of the park was initiated.
"Zelenil" said that damaged paths have been renovated, and that an outdoor gym has been built. They also plan to build playground equipment for children, they said.
As "Vijesti" wrote, citizens living in nearby residential buildings complained about the cutting down of 50 trees. They protested at the time, and "Zelenil" replied that they were removing trees of "wild and invasive character", that is, those that are "in poor condition and vitality".
