The president of the Albanian-American Association from Ulcinj, Džemal Lanica, became an honorary citizen of New York yesterday.

"On the occasion of the celebration of Montenegro's Independence Day, the City of New York proudly recognizes Džemal Lanica, President of the Albanian-American Association of Ulcinj, for his exceptional dedication to representing, protecting, preserving, and enriching the vibrant Albanian culture of Montenegro within the United States of America (USA)," reads the letter of appreciation for awarding Lanica the title.
It is also stated that Lanica, in her role as president of the Albanian-American Association from Ulcinj, has shown exceptional leadership by initiating historic dialogues with the Embassy of Montenegro in Washington, encouraging mutual respect and understanding, and tirelessly representing the interests and concerns of the Albanian diaspora in Montenegro.
"With his unwavering commitment to representing the Montenegrin diaspora, Lanica has reached the highest levels of diplomacy, courageously representing the interests of Montenegro to diaspora communities in the United States, including the State Department, advocating for their rights and contributing to the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the United States and Montenegro," it states.
