Eurozox: Tenants prevented us from securing the location and erecting a protective fence, we distance ourselves from public condemnation

The Eurozox company announced today that in 2023 it signed a Real Estate Purchase Agreement with the aim of valorizing the subject property and bringing it to its intended purpose in accordance with the valid Planning Document DUP "Nova Varoš 2" in Podgorica ("Official Gazette of Montenegro - Municipal Regulations" No. 32/18) on the basis of which the valid Urban and Technical Conditions (UTU) No. 08-332/23-1314 of 3.8.2023 were issued.

The company said they were addressing the public "regarding the newly created situation of a felled tree on a plot of private property."

"Based on the issued UTU, we started preparing technical documentation and obtaining the necessary documentation for the valuation of the property in question, while respecting all prescribed procedures in accordance with the Law on Spatial Planning and Construction of Buildings. By reporting the removal of the building with the charge 'no permit', which is located on our plot, we were obliged to secure the location and erect a protective fence, which we were prevented from doing by the tenants of the surrounding buildings, although we have all the necessary documentation," the Eurozox statement states.

The company stated that after the latest events, they are publicly distancing themselves from public condemnation and said that they had a constructive meeting with the Mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, and the Capital City Administration.

"At that meeting, we agreed that, as a socially responsible company, we would try to find a solution and that we are ready to agree on a location exchange. And that 'Eurozox' doo is a credible and socially responsible company, and not the illegal builders that a certain group of citizens, or usurpers of our plot, wants to present us as, we are also sending proof that we participated with a valuable donation in the greening of the university campus of the University of Montenegro, covering an area of ​​approximately 25 hectares, which was witnessed by the current mayor, who was the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at that time. And finally, we are sure that those in question have never contributed to the improvement of green areas in the Capital City to this extent," said Eurozox.

Earlier today, after a meeting with Mujović, Eurozox's commercial director Željko Šljivančanin told "Vijesti" that the company was willing to abandon the construction of a residential building on Beogradska Street in Podgorica, behind the Ziya Hotel, where a 70-year-old protected tree was cut down on the night between Friday and Saturday.

Šljivančanin also said at the time that everything was "verbally agreed upon for now", but that "an alternative solution was being sought".

According to him, the "disputed" location will not be devastated, but a new place needs to be found for the construction of a residential building.

Residents of Beogradska Street have been on guard for two nights after a tree was cut down. They expressed concern about the environment they live in. On Monday, May 19, residents protested because two weeks ago, several people were roaming the green space owned by Eurozox.
