The meeting of all stakeholders involved in the adaptation of the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology building in Nikšić officially marked the beginning of one of the most significant infrastructure projects of the University of Montenegro, worth 2,21 million euros.

The project will solve long-standing problems with heating, cooling and insulation, and of particular importance will be the visual and functional improvement of classrooms, amphitheaters and offices, which will now fully comply with modern educational standards.

As stated at the aforementioned meeting, which was held at the Faculty of Philosophy, the installation of a modern VRF system will ensure efficient temperature control in all rooms, while the new thermally insulated facade and aluminum joinery with triple-layer glass will bring significant energy savings.

"This is a day we have been waiting for for quite a long time. We wished it would happen earlier, but due to the complexity of the procedures, it was not possible," said the Rector of the University of Montenegro, Vladimir Božović, emphasizing that the aforementioned adaptation is a continuation of a broader plan to modernize the university infrastructure.

"I count on the fact that in the end we will have a very beautiful and functional space for teaching, but also for scientific activities," said Božović, highlighting good cooperation with the ministries of public works and education, science and innovation.

The Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Tatjana Novović, said that everyone at the higher education institution is looking forward to the start of such a significant project, and that a lot has been done in the last two or three years, compared to the previous decade-long period in which things stagnated a lot.

"Significant quality strides have been made, but an important part remains regarding energy efficiency. Now we can talk about a space and environment that will be functional, energy efficient and worthy of an institution such as the University of Montenegro," said Novović.

"We are pleased that we can all work together to improve the infrastructure at all faculties, because infrastructure and teaching staff are a prerequisite for a good education system. And in order to have a good education system, we must have good faculties. Our professors and students deserve to have the same working conditions as their colleagues in developed countries," said Dragan Marković, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.

State Secretary at the Ministry of Public Works, Rusmir Džudžević, said that on May 20, they signed a contract with the company Roaming Montenegro, which will be the contractor, and that the works will be completed in 180 days, but that he hopes that this will happen earlier, so that students can continue their classes without any disruption.

The Vice-Rector for Education at the University of Montenegro, Veselin Mićanović, also expressed his hope that the contractor would use the summer break to complete the most basic work so that they would be fully prepared for the next academic year. He pointed out that a lot has been done in all organizational units in recent years, and that Nikšić is a municipality where a lot of investment will be made in the infrastructure at the faculties in the coming period.

The President of the Board of Directors of the University of Montenegro, Milivoje Radović, announced that the Faculty of Fine Arts will invest part of the funds intended for improving infrastructure in the adaptation of the gymnasium and student cafeteria, and other smaller adaptation projects.

The meeting was attended by the Vice President of the Board of Directors of the University of Montenegro, Srđa Aleksić, the administration of the Faculty of Philosophy, and representatives of the contractors.

Sava Bijelović, a representative of the company Roaming Montenegro, promised that they would meet the deadline and that they would do the work with quality.
