The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) working group for the control of the voter register found 136 of them at their addresses during field checks of the residences of 27 people in Šavnik, and identified 75 people for whom there is doubt about the veracity of their residence registration.
The Ministry of Interior said that when it comes to two polling stations where the election process has not been completed, field checks determined that six persons on the voter list for polling station number 14 do not reside at the addresses where they have registered residence, while 10 persons on the voter list for polling station number 1 were determined not to reside at the addresses where they have registered residence.
"Administrative proceedings will be initiated against these persons in accordance with Article 15a of the Law on Registers of Permanent Residence and Temporary Residence," the Ministry of Interior said.
They previously screened 86 people.
They added that an analysis of the state of the voter register in the municipality of Šavnik showed a significant increase in the number of registered voters - from 1.597 registered on April 13, 2022, to 1.968 registered on October 12, 2022, which represents an increase of 371 voters.
"Most of these persons are persons who deregistered their residence from other municipalities during the election year and registered it in Šavnik. After the election process was not completed, it was determined that of those 371 newly registered voters, 236 of them returned to their previous municipalities of residence, as a result of which the same persons were simultaneously registered on the voter lists of two municipalities. At two polling stations in Šavnik, where the election process was interrupted, a total of 207 new voters were registered, of whom 153 later returned to the municipalities in which they previously had residence."
The Ministry of Interior announced that the working group will continue its activities to improve the process of verifying voter lists in order to protect the integrity of the electoral system and respect for legal procedures.
