Due to the failure to adopt the agenda, the 15th session of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Parliament of Montenegro was adjourned today.
Today's agenda item was the presentation of the report on the work of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (APC) for the first quarter of 2025.
Committee member Dragan Bojović (Democratic People's Party - DNP) said that he was authorized by the parliamentary majority to vote against the agenda for three reasons.
"The acting director of the Agency, Dušan Drakić, is not present, and the director is important as an operational body. Drakić's request to hold the session when he is able to come should have been accepted. Here we are considering the quarterly report for 2025, and we did not consider the annual report for 2024, that would be skipping it," said Bojović.
He said that "various forms of obstruction" have occurred in ASK in the last few days.
"The agency has recently found itself in a state of emergency. We will request that a special board session be scheduled to ensure the regularity of the institution's work, to help as much as we can," Bojović pointed out, adding that these are the reasons why he will not support that agenda.
According to him, he will send a special request for that committee to meet with the ASK Council and Drakić.
He reminded that the ASK Council is meeting tomorrow to learn about the Administrative Court's decision on the dismissal of former director Jelena Perović, and that they will see what their decision will be.
The Chairman of the Committee, Jevto Eraković (Democratic Party of Socialists - DPS), said that Drakić had eight days to inform them that he would not be able to attend today's session, and that the letter of absence, according to him, arrived yesterday.
He addressed the President of the ASK Council, Pavle Ćupić, and said that everything looked like a coordinated action.
"This looked like a coordinated action to us because neither you nor Drakić showed up at the last board meeting, even though you were served with an invitation," said Eraković.
Ćupić also explained that the Agency has already taken a position on the agreements with the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and that these opinions have been published. He noted that he respects the legislative chamber and that he always responds to MPs' invitations to attend sessions and will continue to do so.
He said he never received that call, and that he would check with the administrative service to see what happened.
Eraković said that the fact that the parliamentary majority is waiting for the Council session can be understood as a form of political pressure.
"I think that is neither good nor appropriate," said Eraković.
