With the meeting between Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral and the President of the Municipality of Budva, Nikola Jovanović, the construction of an Orthodox temple, which will represent a spiritual pillar and a lasting legacy for generations to come, was told to "Vijesti" in the office of the President of the Municipality.
"This monumental event marks a new chapter in the religious, cultural and social life of Budva, a city with a thousand-year history and deep roots in Orthodoxy," the cabinet added.
As they stated, the development of the Urban Planning Project for the complex of the Orthodox Cathedral in Budva is in the final phase, and the approval of the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Urbanism and State Property is expected, which would bring this, as they said, significant planning document for Budva and the people of Budva into force.

"Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral Joanikije, with the President of the Municipality of Budva, Mr. Nikola Jovanović, and his associates, visited the location of the future temple even before the official adoption of the plan, in order to determine further steps for the construction of this significant facility. In an open and meaningful dialogue, numerous topics were discussed and major plans for the future of our city were agreed upon. This is not just the beginning of the construction of a building, but the beginning of the gathering of people around a sacred place that will open its doors to everyone - for prayer, peace and communion. Budva has been a beacon of spirituality for centuries, and this temple will confirm this even more strongly. This day enters the history of Budva. The cornerstone of this temple will be built into the foundations of our future. Budva is developing, but it does not forget what it is - an ancient vertical of faith, culture and tradition," they told "Vijesti".

As they emphasized, the construction of this sacred building also symbolizes the beginning of a broader cooperation between the church and the local community, based on mutual respect and joint work for the common good. Such a partnership will be the foundation of stability, trust and long-term development of Budva as a city faithful to its tradition and spiritual values, concluded Jovanović's cabinet.
