Dragoljub Draža Mihailović and Pavle Đurišić were the first guerrillas to rise up against the fascists in Europe, but the truth about them was later covered up with lies. Since the end of World War II, the Tito-Ustasha coalition has reigned in this region, trampling and killing and committing the greatest genocide against the Serbian people.
This was the message of Archbishop and Metropolitan of Budimlje-Niksic, Metodije, after serving the liturgy at the Podmainsko Monastery on June 7th, on the feast of the Third Exaltation of the Head of Saint John the Baptist and the summer All Souls' Day.
As stated on the website of the Diocese of Budimlje-Niksic of the Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC), after the liturgy, a memorial service was served for the first and second Durmitor Chetnik brigades and "victims of communist persecution", General Dragoljub Mihailović and members of the Yugoslav Army in the homeland.
Methodius said that they gathered because of the great and greatest knights and heroes of World War II.
"Although they were abandoned by everyone at one point, they persevered on that cross-bearing and cross-resurrection path of Christ to the end with pure faces and bright faces, and General Dragoljub, and Pavle the commander, and Ivan Ružić, and Nikola and all the fighters, warriors and soldiers who with pure faces defended the most sacred thing, their soul, their faith and their family and people, from that dark scourge that loomed and still looms, standing over our heads. These are the first guerrillas in enslaved Europe. Dragoljub was the first to rise up against the fascists and Nazis, then all the truths about them and their life, feat, their tragedy, the drama they went through, and together with them our entire people, were covered up with lies. And what do we have in the end? Although they are sacred, graves are not what we need the most. History has shown us that. We do not have graves for the greatest of our kind. There is no grave of Saint Sava, it was burned by those whose successors burned Dragoljub after him, nor "There is no grave for him. Njegoš's grave was ransacked seven times and today what stands over his grave is not a grave, it is a shame, it is a mausoleum for a pagan Orthodox Metropolitan and Bishop and Saint, standing as a sign of our humiliation and slavery that is still current and ongoing. Don't be fooled if your salaries are a little higher, you will not be freer," said Metodije.
He said that we do not have the grave of Saint Sava, nor of Njegoš, nor of Dragoljub (Mihailović), and we are still fighting for Njegoš, to consecrate and return the church (on Lovćen).
"That will be a sign of our liberation. And I, not by chance, greeted you with Christ is risen here, because it resurrects that memory, resurrects the presence and life and spirit of those heroes we mentioned today. To the extent that we return to ourselves and God, we will return to the truth and to them. And then, in 1944, more of those allies killed us than the Nazis and fascists against whom we fought in Podgorica, Nikšić, Niš, Leskovac, Belgrade and all the places and regions where the Serbian people live. They did not touch (fascist) Zagreb, which was liberated when Berlin was liberated on the same day. And you know how? When the Ustashas were leaving, they say, only 200 meters behind them, the Partisan units were entering, no one bared their teeth, and did not leave the ranks. They left and since then, that Tito-Ustasha coalition has reigned, trampling and killing and committing the greatest genocide against the Serbian people," said Metodije.
The Metropolitan added that "those who were their commanders and gave them orders, under whose dictates they worked, were led through rat-like channels until they were all alive, through the Vatican and the west to Latin America, where almost all of them reached a ripe old age."
"Some did not, whom the hand of Blagoje Jovović and a few other knights reached to avenge Serbian wounds. In the end, we wonder who won, the Nazis and fascists who want to rule the world today and want to install it here again by force, setting up their puppets and regimes, who will teach us what is truth, history, and do not know the names of their great-grandfathers, and not further, and who they were. Therefore, what I told you at the beginning, if you move away from the sacred and from the altar, from the church, you will lose your memory, you will go astray, you will wander in the darkness and fields of hunger, dying of spiritual hunger and you will find eternal death and you will never know the truth," said Metodije.
He added that this is why whenever they wanted to exterminate the Serbian people, they exterminated the Serbian Orthodox Church.
"Therefore, and remember, it will be a people, there is no Serbian nation without the Church, people. It was born there, whoever left the Church became someone else, but not just someone else, but a hater of what his ancestors were, and the main executioner, and a tool and weapon in the hands of the executioners and our age-old enemies, we have witnessed throughout history to this day, but, strength is not in numbers, and in weapons, and in cavalry, as the psalmist David says, and in chariots, and in chariots, and in weapons of war, but in truth and justice, is strength. Saint Peter of Cetinje also said this when the people were divided even then, killing each other in blood feuds, turning to the Turks to live more comfortably and easily, praying and begging, and even cursing them to stay on the path of their ancestors because this life will pass in a short time, but where will we be with our souls when we appear before our ancestors, knights of the glorious spirit?", asked Methodius.
He assessed that the "greatest schizophrenia" of this area is that a monument to the "greatest monster" Josip Broz Tito was erected in Podgorica.
"And in Podgorica, which unfortunately once bore his name, and to make the irony even greater, in the Boulevard of 'St. Peter of Cetinje', the one whose church on Lovćen was demolished by that monster and the grave of his nephew, Bishop Rad, desecrated. What schizophrenia it is to name the boulevard after St. Peter of Cetinje, and to erect a monument to a monster in it. That is the state and image of our state in which we live. Therefore, do not be afraid, that dark vilayet is swaying from which those black winds push those clouds that have loomed over us. All those who died, even on this other side, and there is no other, one was a liberation one, they were betrayed by that monster to whom a monument was erected in the capital of Montenegro. Betrayed, sent in the most monstrous way to Goli Otok to torture them, to kill that human dignity in them in the most cruel, animalistic way, destroying the people who fought with them in the same ranks," said Metodije.
He added that his great-grandfather was under the command of Jevto Ružić at Mojkovac and received the Obilić Medal.
"My brother bears his name, here he is, Rade Ostojić, and he had six sons: Jovan, Mihailo, Milivoje, Milun, Blagoje and Dragoje. All of them were in the Durmitor Chetnik Brigade, two of them minors. The first Milivoje, when it was moving towards Pljevlja, there were no Chetniks or Partisans at that time, he was killed and seven Ostojićs, young men with him, were killed in Pljevlja, in December 1941. And the others, on the way to Zidani Most without return, two of them, my grandfather saved himself as a Chetnik captured by the Germans, what kind of collaborator with the occupiers was he who was captured by the fascists and put in a camp of the Yugoslav army in the homeland and a prisoner of war soldier in Osnabrück, only their camp was. One managed to miraculously get across and escape outside of Yugoslavia to escape the verdict, the fatal Titoist fate, and the two minors were returned from Zidani Most, they were returned by one Milićević in his "...of whom my father later married, and I am half of those Milićevićs, half of the Ostojićs," the metropolitan said.
He pointed out that it united "both sides that fought against the fascists."
"And those who did not want to bow their heads under Broz and his betrayal, they ended up like those on Goli Otok," added Metodije.
