At least ten children with developmental disabilities and their families, beneficiaries of the services of the Association for Assistance to Persons with Disabilities in Psychophysical Development (UZPD) Nikšić, will have the opportunity to receive professional treatment and attend workshops aimed at strengthening their potential and inclusion, all as part of the project "Early intervention for better functionality of children with disabilities", which the Association is implementing.

The project will, as the president of the Association said at a press conference, Miluša Cica Žugić, psychological, speech therapy and physiotherapy individual treatments will be organized for ten children up to seven years of age, while lectures on the importance of early intervention, which can contribute to increasing the potential of their children for regular functioning in society, will be organized for at least 15 parents/guardians through social support workshops.

"The overall goal of the project is increased socialization, integration and strengthening of the potential of children with disabilities and developmental difficulties. The project is focused on providing concrete assistance to children and their families through a multidisciplinary approach, with an emphasis on timely action. The psychological, communication, social and motor competencies of ten children with disabilities and developmental difficulties will be improved, through workshops of psychologists, speech therapists and physiotherapists at the Association," said Žugić.

According to her, Nikšić is becoming an example of an inclusive and responsible community. She thanked the Municipality of Nikšić for recognizing the importance of investing in the most vulnerable categories of society, and called on the public, institutions and all relevant stakeholders to join forces to contribute to creating an environment in which every child will have the opportunity to develop their potential.

The project, which lasts four months, was financially supported by the Municipality with the amount of 6.500 euros.
