As of today, a restrictive water supply regime is in effect in the Nikšić local communities (MZ) Župa and Bogetići. The restriction involves a temporary suspension of water supply (24 hours) in the interval from 8 am to 8 am the following day.
"The introduction of restrictions is caused by the extremely increased consumption of drinking water, due to which the distribution system is unable to meet the needs of all water service users at full capacity," the Water Authority announced.
Today, residents belonging to the first groups in the aforementioned local communities will be without water, the second group will be without water tomorrow, and so on alternately.
In the Župa MZ, the first group includes Vasiljevići and Kuta, and the second group includes Bjeloševina, Dučice, Staro selo, Jugovići, Carine, Bastaje and Liverovići. As for the Bogetići MZ, the left part of Bogetići and Gostojevići belong to the first group, and the right part - Drenoštica, Potkupić, Cerovo and Vukićevići, to the second group.
As the Water Authority warned, due to increased and reckless consumption of drinking water, as well as increasingly unfavorable hydrological conditions, stable water supply is threatened in several parts of the city, and if this situation continues, restrictions are inevitable in urban areas as well.
"Due to the unfavorable hydrological situation and the enormous growth of irrational, excessive and illegal consumption of drinking water in the territory of the municipality of Nikšić, which is causing problems, i.e. instability and interruptions in the water supply regime in certain parts of the city, primarily peripheral areas and suburban settlements, we call on service users to refrain from excessive and reckless consumption of drinking water, which directly threatens the orderly and continuous water supply of the city. If this situation continues, we will be forced to introduce a restrictive water supply regime in certain parts of the city. Once again, we appeal to citizens to use drinking water rationally and for the intended purpose so that the water supply system in our city functions smoothly," the Waterworks appealed.
They announced that the competent Water Supply teams will conduct field inspections of both irrational water consumption and the legality of connections to the water supply network, and in accordance with the recorded situation, take necessary measures, in accordance with legal regulations, all with the aim of protecting the public interest - an orderly and continuous water supply to the municipality of Nikšić.
