The Ministry of Maritime Affairs will inspect vessels at sea and Lake Skadar on a daily basis during the summer in order to improve the safety of water traffic in the country, announced the relevant Minister Filip Radulović, and said that there will be no tolerance for lawbreakers.
He toured Lake Skadar with inspectors today, and during the first day of intensified controls, as announced by the Ministry, a number of violations were observed for which fines were imposed.
During his tour of the field, Radulović announced that there would be no tolerance for lawbreakers.
"I can already announce daily and intensified controls until the end of the summer, both at sea and on Lake Skadar. There will be no mercy for offenders. We must introduce order and respect for navigation rules," said Radulović.
As he stated, during today's inspection at Lake Skadar, a number of irregularities were registered.
"Out of the total number of vessels inspected, 70 percent were found to have irregularities. All those who did not comply with the rules and regulations were punished," said Radulović.
Radulović said he expects an increased frequency of water traffic during the season, which will require daily monitoring and precautions.
"This season we will have six patrol teams at our disposal that will control the entire coast and Lake Skadar. We will also conduct controls using drones, which will further help us identify all those who violate navigation rules," said Radulović.
He appealed to all participants in water traffic to behave responsibly and respect legal regulations, in order to ensure safe and pleasant navigation for both guests and themselves.
Today's control at Lake Skadar was also attended by members of the Police Directorate and the Maritime Safety and Port Management Directorate.
