The diaspora plays a key role in the country's economic development, assessed Minister of Diaspora Mirsad Azemović, and said that it is a powerful resource of knowledge and capital.
As part of his working visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, he participated in the Economic Summit entitled Perspectives of Economic Development and Cross-Border Cooperation, which was held in Sarajevo.
"Our obligation is to recognize, activate and systematically incorporate these potentials into development strategies," said Azemović, addressing those present from the business and political sectors.
Azemović, as announced by the relevant Ministry, announced a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening ties between domestic institutions and businesspeople from the diaspora, as well as supporting the return of highly qualified experts.
Azemović stated that the role played by the diaspora is crucial, not only in an economic sense, but also as a bridge of knowledge, experiences, ideas and values that it transfers from the world to its homeland on a daily basis.
He emphasized the need to strategically identify ways to strengthen cooperation between all countries and their diasporas, which will thereby contribute to the development of the entire region.
Azemović was also one of the participants in the panel Energy Infrastructure and Solar Panels: Challenges for Investors, where regional cooperation was discussed and the role of the diaspora in the development of the region was highlighted.
The summit is organized by the Duljević Foundation and the Chamber of Commerce of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the support of the Ministry of Economy of the Sarajevo Canton and under the auspices of the City of Sarajevo. The partner country of this year's summit is the Embassy of Slovenia in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The summit brought together prominent representatives of the public and private sectors, decision-makers, experts and the academic community with the aim of opening a dialogue on key issues of regional development, economic connectivity and innovative models of cooperation.
The summit was attended by the Head of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora in the Region and Europe, Ajla Dervišević, on behalf of the Ministry of Diaspora.
