Awards to the most successful competitors from primary and secondary schools within the 15th Knowledge Olympiad were presented today at a ceremony at the Rectorate of the University of Montenegro (UCG).

The University of Montenegro stated that around 500 primary and secondary school students from all over Montenegro competed this year in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and programming.

Rector of the University of Montenegro Vladimir Božović said that the University is open and ready to develop the talents of young people.

"Your talents already belong to Montenegro, but I am sure that you have the capacity to prove yourself on a much broader and more demanding stage. Your knowledge and abilities should open new doors and achieve new victories - both domestically and internationally," said Božović.

He pointed out that today, young people have access to much greater resources, knowledge, and opportunities for development.

"That is precisely why yours is a greater obligation - to use all these advantages and achieve successes that you will be proud of, as will your schools, the University of Montenegro and our entire society," said Božović.

Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics Miljan Bigović said that the Knowledge Olympiad celebrates the knowledge, effort and perseverance shown by young people, even in an era of quick answers and superficial information.

He thanked the mentors for their support of young talents, noting that a larger number of students applied this year.

Bigović emphasized that he is convinced that continued cooperation will contribute to even greater motivation and involvement of students.

He thanked all the test authors and assessors, who did their work free of charge, with exceptional quality and professionalism, as well as the deans of other faculties who helped with the organization.

Bigović also thanked Božović, the doMEn company, the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU), the Center for Ecotoxicological Testing, the Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices, and the "Diofant" Mathematics Club, who continuously provide support to the Knowledge Olympiad.

The awards to the best competitors were presented by Božović for mathematics, Bigović for chemistry, the director of the Center for Ecotoxicological Research Nikola Svrkota for physics, and the director of the Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices Snežana Mugoša for biology.

Information technology expert Tatjana Stanišić presented the programming award, and CANU member Svjetlana Terzić presented the award to the students who scored the maximum number of points.

The announcement states that the most successful mathematics competitors in the seventh, eighth and ninth grade categories were additionally awarded thanks to the cooperation with the Diofant Mathematics Club and Dr. Vojislav Andrić, at the initiative of Professor Nevena Mijajlović.

It is added that six students will receive a 50 percent discount for participating in the Divčibare Summer School for Young Mathematicians, and the Diofant Club is awarding annual scholarships for the online school for young mathematicians, worth around 250 euros per student.
