After more than 24 hours of unsuccessfully fighting a forest fire on the border of the Bijelo Polje and Mojkovac municipalities, due to the inaccessibility of the terrain, the Bijelo Polje firefighters were assisted by helicopter units of the Protection and Rescue Directorate.
The Commander of the Protection and Rescue Service, Edin Kolić, said that the fire flared up again due to the inaccessibility of the terrain in the village of Fuštića Ograda, that it was extinguished from the air yesterday afternoon with the Airtraktor AT - 802 aircraft, and that the intervention was successfully completed.
"We monitored the situation during the night and this morning we found that there was no new flare-up," said Kolić, adding that the cause of the fire was unknown and once again appealing to citizens to be responsible and not light fires in the open.
