The Montenegrin Helsinki Committee for Human Rights (CHO) joins in condemning the discriminatory decision of the Government of Montenegro, which attacks the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature (FCJK), according to a statement signed by Miodrag Vlahović, President of the CHO, who reacted to the news that the Government did not adopt a decision on the enrollment of freshmen at the expense of the state at the FCJK.
"Such a shameful decision represents a continuation of the clerical-nationalist policy of the ruling majority, which is aimed at marginalizing and eradicating everything that has to do with Montenegrin culture and identity. Those who give millions of euros for some religious schools, which are actually incubators of Greater Serbian nationalism in Montenegro owned by the Church of Serbia, are not even ready to tolerate the existence of a single higher education institution that is Montenegrin in name and content," he said in a statement sent to the media.
CHO calls on the Government to immediately reverse the shameful decision and financially support the admission of new students to FCJK, the statement concluded.
