Another regime crackdown on the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature (FCJK) has ended ingloriously. As many times before, we have once again shown that "all forces are weak and useless to the one who thinks right," said the FCJK regarding the Government's decision to adopt the Decision on the enrollment of freshmen at the expense of the state at that faculty for the 2025/2026 academic year, after a renewed vote.
"They cut off our finances, invited us for informative interviews, wrote criminal charges for freely expressed opinions and public criticism of the regime's injustices that attack the fundamental values of civil society. They also took away our security service, thinking that the Faculty is made up of walls and not the people who teach, study and support it. The mean and cowardly little Budo, the Sveti Sava official for education, science and relations with religious communities, tried to take away our students by taking advantage of the absence of the ministers of finance and education, without whose prior consent our proposal could not have been procedurally included on the agenda. Little Budo, 'why are you sulking when you don't want to forge'?", states a statement sent to the media by the faculty.
The FCJK say that the latest government crackdown on them has helped clerical-fascist forces in Montenegro to renew their knowledge of how much Montenegrin citizens, civic activists, intellectuals, journalists, foreign philologists and Slavic scholars, university students, professors and non-academic staff value Montenegro and the FCJK, freedom of thought and the right to critical opinion.
"It also helped them understand that there is one undeserved kindness in Montenegro that considers education as its sacred object! We will not forget a single voice of support and a single helping hand! Just as we will not forget those who, this time, shamefully and silently watched another attempt at the brutal Stalinist shutdown of a higher education and scientific institution.
"We remain grateful to everyone! Until the final victory of the values on which the democratic world rests! Gratefully, your professors and students of the Faculty of Montenegrin Language and Literature," the statement concludes.
