The court of professions and science must be of particular importance in the decision-making process regarding spatial planning, said the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
Milatović stated on the X network that he discussed key challenges and perspectives in the field of spatial planning, spatial protection, and the role of the profession in the public interest with representatives of the Engineering Chamber of Montenegro (IKCG) and the Professional Chamber of Architects.
"At the meeting, I emphasized the important role of the IKCG as a regulatory body and institutional partner in implementing professional standards in engineering and architectural practice," said Milatović.
He said that special emphasis at the meeting was placed on the Declaration on the Protection of the Space of Montenegro, signed by more than 300 architects and a large number of civil organizations, which calls for sustainable development, institutional independence and transparency in decision-making processes.
"I emphasized that the judgment of professionals and science must be of particular importance in the decision-making process concerning our space and represents a relevant factor that must be consulted when deciding on significant issues and implementing projects that affect public space," Milatović emphasized.
As he said, at the meeting they also considered the possibility of organizing a joint event under his auspices, with the aim of a public discussion on urban planning challenges and the protection of public space.
