The Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development (MERS) and the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU) signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the field of nature protection and preservation, environmental improvement and protection, and sustainable development.
As announced by MERS, the Agreement was signed by the relevant Minister Damjan Ćulafić and the President of CANU Ljubiša Stanković.
Ćulafić emphasized the importance of the agreement for strengthening ties between science and state administration, stating that it creates the basis for systemic and substantive cooperation between scientific institutions and state environmental protection policy.
"This is a step forward towards more responsible management of natural resources and better preparedness for climate challenges," said Ćulafić.
As stated in the statement, the Agreement opens up space for joint action on research, education, knowledge exchange and preparation of strategic documents, as well as on the implementation of specific projects that contribute to the preservation of biodiversity and improvement of the quality of life.
Ćulafić pointed out that the Agreement represents a joint response of institutions that believe in the power of science, but also in the obligation to preserve natural resources for future generations.
Stanković said that the Agreement is an announcement of joint efforts, but also a call to responsibility.
"Our role is to offer solutions through science that are not just academic, but applicable and beneficial for society as a whole," said Stanković.
