The President of the Municipality of Pljevlja, Dario Vraneš, at the session of the Pljevlja Municipal Assembly, which will be held on July 3, will initiate the adoption of conclusions, which will request the Government of Montenegro to lift the ban on construction in the area of Pljevlja villages, where coal deposits are located.
"I will submit the conclusions to the councilors for consideration and adoption at the first session. It is necessary to request the Government to lift the ban on building structures in villages where coal deposits are located," said Vranes.
He pointed out that the ban on construction in these areas was introduced in the 1980s and is still in force.
Due to the ban, he adds, construction has been prevented in the villages of Kalušići, Mrzovići, Grevo, Rabitlje, Bakrenjače and other areas.
The building bans, the city's mayor adds, have prevented the construction of commercial and other facilities, which has led to the decline of extremely wealthy villages located near the city.
"In many of these areas, there will be no coal exploitation at all, because there is no economic justification. However, the local population cannot build and cannot improve their households. Those villages have emptied out, the young people have left, and they could have been the bearer of the entire development of Pljevlja," said Vraneš.
Vraneš presented this initiative during a tour of Pljevlja dairies and a conversation with representatives of the management of the RM Komerc Dairy, who informed him that they could not expand production capacities due to the existing ban.
