The summer military camp for youth, a project of the Ministry of Defense (MOD) and the Army of Montenegro (AVM) intended for high school students from the country and the region, was officially opened today at the "Breza" barracks in Kolašin.

MOD announced that third and fourth grade students from Montenegrin high schools, as well as five of their peers from North Macedonia, will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge and skills over the next two weeks through various activities such as mountaineering, rafting, machine training, topography and navigation.

Students will also be able to acquire basic seafaring skills on the training ship "Jadran".

The Chief of the Training Department at the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro, Žarko Vojinović, who ceremonially opened the camp, emphasized that the summer military camp is important both for the personal development of the participants and for the wider community.

"We are gathering here with one common goal - to become better, stronger and more capable. You are the future of our country," said Vojinović.

He emphasized that participation in the Camp is not just about acquiring military skills.

He emphasized the importance of gender equality as a key element of a modern and inclusive military.

"Montenegrin society is becoming more mature, overcoming traditional stereotypes that the army is only for men. In the Armed Forces of Montenegro, women today are soldiers, leaders, instructors and mentors - strong and important for all our successes," said Vojinović.

He also emphasized that the friendships built through such activities are particularly valuable, strengthening team spirit and connecting young people from all over our country, but also beyond.

Families of the Camp participants attended the opening ceremony, and had the opportunity to get acquainted with some of the equipment, vehicles and weapons, which were presented to them by members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro.
