The Board of Directors of the Montenegrin Electricity Market Operator (COTEE) has announced a vacancy for the first person of this state-owned company.

They did this after the Government at the end of May gave its consent to dismiss Mersudin Gredić, who the Labor Inspectorate had previously determined had been illegally appointed.

According to information from the Employment Office, the competition was announced on June 18, and lasts for eight days, until June 26.

Gredic is currently the acting director of COTEE until a full-time manager is appointed.

The competition published on the Employment Agency's website states that in addition to the general requirements prescribed by the Labor Law, candidates must have a four-year university degree in a technical, economic or legal field, at least five years of work experience with that level of education, and also know a foreign language.

"...A person who has been convicted of criminal offenses against labor rights, against intellectual property, against payment transactions and business operations, against property and official duties, within three years from the date of the finality of the verdict, provided that the time spent serving a prison sentence is not included in that period...", the competition states, among other things.

COTEE is an intermediary in the electricity trade in Montenegro.

"Vijesti" previously reported that the Labor Inspectorate ordered the Board of Directors of that company to eliminate irregularities related to the appointment of Gredić as executive director, without a prior public competition procedure.

Acting inspector Vlatko Popović emphasized that the appeal does not delay execution.

The elimination of irregularities in earlier cases involving former leaders of the Coal Mine (RUP) and the Montenegrin Electric Distribution System (CEDIS) meant the dismissal of Milan Lekić (New Serbian Democracy) and Vladimir Čađenović (Democratic Montenegro), after which a competition was announced for the executive directors of these state-owned companies.

Since the beginning of the mandate of the 44th Government, there have been claims that the heads of all institutions, and especially companies in the energy sector, will be elected based on their professional references, and not the wishes of political parties.
