The luxury French small cruiser "L'Austral" sailed into Tivat this morning just before eight o'clock and moored at pier V of the Porto Montengero marina.
The cruise ship belonging to the French shipping company Compagnie du Ponant sailed to Tivat from the Croatian island of Lokrum near Dubrovnik, and brought about two hundred passengers to Porto Montenegro.
"L'Austral" has a displacement of 10.700 gross tons, is 142 meters long and 18 meters wide, and in 132 luxuriously equipped cabins it can accommodate a maximum of 264 passengers who pay quite high prices for cruises on this ship, which calls at some of the most attractive ports and destinations in the world, because the ships of the Ponant company belong to the class of the most exclusive, so-called boutique cruisers.
Incidentally, the Ponant company entered the maritime history of Tivat on July 11, 2023, when its slightly smaller ultra-luxury cruise ship "Le Bougainville" became the first foreign cruise ship to sail into that city, also berthed at the Porto Montenegro marina.
Following last year's amendments to the Law on Ports, which allowed it, the management of the Porto Montrenegro nautical center officially re-registered part of this exclusive marina for mega and super yachts as a commercial port, enabling cruisers up to 250 meters long and with a draft of as much as 12,2 meters to enter Tivat without any problems in the future, if necessary.
However, the business strategy of Port Montenegro is that the port only occasionally receives ultra-luxury small and medium-sized cruise ships from companies that are oriented towards the most expensive and exclusive, boutique cruise segment, such as Ponant, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, Seabourn Cruise Line, Hansa, Sea Dream Yacht Club, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection and Silversea Cruises.
