The clock on the building of the former Wholesale Market, on the main square of Kolašin, is working again after the hands were "frozen" for almost three and a half decades.

The repair of the clock was initiated by the sole councilor of the Civic Movement URA in Kolašin, Miodrag Mijo Vlahović. Since there was no money in the local budget, Vlahović decided to finance the purchase of a new mechanism and accompanying equipment himself.

As he told "Vijesti", he secured the money by donating his councilor's fee for that purpose.

In addition to financing the purchase of the necessary materials to get the clock working again, Vlahović was also involved in setting up the equipment, and also organized its transport from Serbia.

Vlahović points out that both the long-standing malfunction and the restart of the clock symbolically send an important message to Kolašin. He recalls that in the last 35 years, a lot has changed in that city, including the government, but that one of the constants has been the broken clock and “stopped time” in the very center of the tourist town. He says that councilor fees are paid from the money of the citizens of Kolašin, so he gave up his fee in order to “give back in some way” to his fellow citizens.

"First of all, my motive for entering local politics is solely my love for Kolašin and the desire to contribute to its healthy development. Ever since the nineties, when the Kolašin economy went downhill, the symbol of that decline was the clock at the Wholesale Market, which stopped at that time. The authorities changed, but the clock continued to stand still, for three and a half decades. During that time, a lot of state and municipal property was sold off or disappeared, and many citizens were displaced. I would like Kolašin to finally move forward, on an honest and right path. That is why I decided to personally contribute, so that at least symbolically time in Kolašin starts, so that we no longer go backwards," said Vlahović.

He says that he would like his "fellow councilors, and especially representatives of the executive branch, to remember that they were elected to work in the interests of the citizens of Kolašin every time they hear the bell of that clock."
