The capital city has introduced 24-hour duty of the Municipal Police and the Inspection Department in the area near the Vrele Ribničke Landfill, in order to prevent the burning of tires and other waste that endanger the environment and the health of citizens.
As announced by the Capital City, the decision was made by Mayor Saša Mujović at today's meeting of the Crisis Staff, convened on the occasion of the fire season.
It was announced that the measure is being introduced in response to the increasing number of incidents of waste burning in the area, which produce thick smoke and pose a direct threat to the population in the surrounding settlements. In addition to the competent city services, members of the Police Directorate will also join the duty, in order to ensure continuous surveillance and rapid response.
"We are determined to put an end to illegal and irresponsible behavior that has no place in our city. Burning tires and other waste in public areas is not just a matter of communal order - it is a serious environmental, health and safety problem. Citizens have the right to a healthy environment and the Capital City will take all necessary measures to finally solve this long-standing problem," said Mujović.
As part of the enhanced measures, the competent authorities will regularly monitor the area, respond to every report, and prosecute all those responsible for illegal activities that contribute to pollution and endanger safety.
The capital urges citizens to report any suspicious activity and calls for shared responsibility in protecting the space we all share.
