The public institution for accommodation, rehabilitation and resocialization of psychoactive substance users ("Kakaricka gora") had an average of 48 clients per month last year - 33 of them in the residential part and 15 in the non-residential part of the treatment, according to the institution's work report.
Councilors are expected to discuss the work of the institution during a session scheduled to begin on July 3rd.
"In the Sector for the Treatment of Addicts, the average number of clients per month was 28 in residential treatment and 14 clients in the non-residential part of the treatment. In the Sector for the Treatment of Addicts, there were an average of five clients per month in residential treatment and one in non-residential treatment," the report specified.
In a document signed by the director Marko Čađenović, it also states that last year there were eight self-initiated treatment interruptions in the Addiction Treatment Sector.
"While two clients were removed from treatment for violating the House Rules (consumption of psychoactive substances, including alcohol, during a weekend outing). In the Addiction Treatment Sector in the past year, there were two self-initiated treatment interruptions, while there were no violations of the eliminatory rules," the Work Report document states.
Čađenović, in the document, points out that group psychotherapy has proven to be particularly significant, "because it provides clients with the opportunity to confront all the destructive patterns they operate in at an early stage."
“... In the later period and with all the changes that the program requires as a condition for quality and stable abstinence... During the reporting period, a total of 1.106 group therapies were conducted with clients in the residential and non-residential part of the treatment.”
According to the report, 652 individual therapies and counseling sessions were conducted for clients at "Kakaricka Gora". In addition, creative workshops were also organized, which, as the report states, have an effective effect on clients.
“The use of art materials provides the opportunity to relieve stress and relax. This is one way for clients to free themselves from negative emotions and discover a part of the hidden world that often cannot be verbalized, because artistic work can penetrate deeper than words. During 2024, a total of 195 workshops were conducted under the supervision of occupational therapy officers,” it says.
As highlighted in the Report on the Work of "Kakaricka Gora", last year, employees of that institution conducted a total of 855 tests for the presence of psychoactive substances in clients.
"In the reporting period, there were 838 visits to clients by trusted persons. Also, employees working in the security of persons and property took clients to medical institutions for health examinations 161 times... Extraordinary tests and searches of all clients, as well as rooms and other premises where clients stay, were also carried out for security reasons, as assessed by the competent person," it states.
After six months of residential treatment, clients are entitled to weekend outings and family visits. Last year, clients of this institution were granted almost 400 such visits.
"After returning from a weekend outing to the Public Institution, clients underwent a protocol of examination of their faces and belongings, as well as mandatory testing for the presence of psychoactive substances in their bodies, while there were 115 one-day outings. In 2024, a total of 1.608 calls were made for clients undergoing treatment," the report states.
