The municipal water company Vodovod in Pljevlja appealed to all consumers, especially those from suburban settlements, to use water rationally.
The Water Authority has urged citizens to refrain from excessive watering of gardens, orchards, washing carpets, and filling swimming pools.
"We inform consumers who are supplied with water from distribution pipelines from the direction of Odžak and Jugoštica that the yield of the source is constantly decreasing and that excessive water consumption in this area leads to a drop in pressure in the system, and that inappropriate and irrational consumption endangers its functioning, which directly affects the quality of life of a large number of citizens in the months when we all need water," the Water Authority said in a statement.
The water utility will, as stated in the statement, increase surveillance over inappropriate consumption and irresponsible individuals, provide preventive warnings to citizens, and possibly punish them in accordance with regulations.
"We also invite citizens to report any irregularities they notice to our competent services, all with the aim of protecting the public interest, which is the orderly and continuous water supply of our consumers," the Water Authority said in a statement.
