After a recent incident in front of a temple in Podgorica, the director of the City RTV Vladimir Otašević called it terrorism, for which certain politicians and journalists are to blame. Such claims, made from the position of the head of the local public broadcaster, represent unacceptable panic-mongering and brutal abuse of office, assessed the president of the European Union Councilors' Club in the Capital City Assembly, Miloš Mašković.
"There are no indications that could characterize the incident in front of the Temple as a terrorist act, but facts are not important to Otašević. His goal was not to inform the public, but to use the event for a political showdown, to target political dissenters as a security threat, and to turn City Television into a means of spreading fear and manipulative content according to the recipe of Dragan J. Vučićević, the owner of Serbian Informer," Mašković wrote on his account on the X network.
It is particularly symptomatic, Mašković believes, that Otašević changed the content of his post several times, only to eventually delete it completely, thereby only confirming that it was an irresponsible and thoughtless statement without any basis.
"This is not the first time. I would like to remind you that on January 15, the city portal published fake news about a murder in Cetinje, which the Police Directorate denied just a few minutes later. That is why today I am asking Mayor Saša Mujović: how many more scandals does he need to realize that Vladimir Otašević is doing everything contrary to journalistic ethics and standards of the profession," said Mašković.
