The Health Care Union will organize a protest rally tomorrow in Podgorica, at Vektra Square, with the aim, as announced, of protecting the dignity of nurses and technicians.

The Union of Free Trade Unions of Montenegro (USSCG) called on its members and all citizens to support the efforts of the Health Care Union by attending the protest, which is scheduled for 15:30 p.m.

The USSCG stated in a statement that it is extremely unacceptable that nurses and technicians, who form the backbone of the healthcare system and whose work requires a high level of expertise and dedication, have been neglected for years in terms of working conditions, occupational safety, and earnings.

"Although the job complexity coefficient is determined not only based on educational qualifications, but also on responsibility, job complexity and working conditions, the basic salary for this profession is most often below 600 euros (the lowest minimum wage as a protective category)," the statement says.

As stated by the USSCG, a particularly worrying fact is that the job complexity coefficient for this profession is about ten percent lower than for all other employees with the same level of qualification in Montenegro.

"Nurses and technicians deserve special attention from decision-makers and the taking of all necessary measures to protect the dignity of their profession and enable a quality life, as well as ensure their continued presence in the country and in their workplaces," the statement said.

The USSCG pointed out that any further loss of this valuable staff represents not only a loss for the healthcare system, but also for society as a whole.

"Convinced that the planned protest gathering, one in a series of months-long activities by employees in that sector, will be the final alarm to decision-makers to take an extremely responsible approach to finding solutions and creating conditions for correcting the long-standing injustice towards the status of nurses and technicians, we hereby give our full support to their union and workers' struggle," the USSCG said.
