A special SAR rescue scooter and a professional lifeguard will be deployed throughout the summer season on Velika Plaza in Ulcinj, the Maritime Safety and Port Management Authority (UPSUL) announced.
UPSUL said that the SAR scooter was deployed to Velika Paža based on years of analysis and experience, with the aim of improving safety at sea and responding more efficiently in emergency search and rescue situations.
"Throughout the summer season, a professional rescuer will be deployed at this location and will be an integral part of the national SAR system," the statement said.
It is added that this measure significantly reduces the response time to potential incidents in one of the most demanding sectors of the Ulcinj Riviera - the area of Velika Plaza, the mouth of the Bojana River and its course.
"This is a territory that, due to its configuration, strong sea currents and frequent changes in weather conditions, requires increased surveillance and constant preparedness," UPSUL pointed out.
As they said, through the constant presence of SAR scooters and trained lifeguards, UPSUL acts preventively and correctively, with the aim of preserving life and increasing the level of safety of all users of the marine area.
"UPSUL remains committed to further strengthening the maritime security system in Montenegro, through investments in equipment, human resources and cooperation with local and state institutions," the statement concludes.
