Private interests cannot be more important than the basic right of citizens to accessible healthcare, said the President of the Municipality of Tuzi Lindon Đeljaj, regarding the announcement that the citizens of Tuzi will be left without the only state pharmacy by the end of the week, and said that such, as he said, irresponsible behavior towards the public interest and health of our fellow citizens is unacceptable.
Đeljaj assessed that the closure of a pharmacy that has been providing essential medicines for years, including therapy for serious and rare diseases, in the middle of summer and without any alternative, directly endangers the health of thousands of people.
He called on the company "MK Nova Invest" to show a minimum of social responsibility and stop the eviction until an adequate space is found or the existing one is purchased.
"If they don't do this, they will show that profit is more important to them than human life, which the citizens of Tuzi will know how to appreciate.
"I also request the Ministry of Health and the management of Montefarma not to waste time but to immediately find a solution and prevent the closure of this pharmacy," Đeljaj concluded in a press release.
