Today, in the midst of one of the fiercest social resistances to the awarding of the Thirteenth of July Award, the city television decided to provide promotional space to Bećir Vuković, a man whose public actions and positions insult the anti-fascist heritage of Montenegro, render the struggle for a civil state meaningless and deny the values on which recognition itself is based, said Miloš Mašković, president of the European Union Councilors' Club in the Capital City Assembly.
The editorial decision to give him space, immediately on the eve of a civil protest against such a decision, is not an expression of media freedom but editorial servility towards the parties in power, he assessed.
"Today, what I publicly pointed out at the previous session of the Assembly has become even more obvious. Vladimir Otašević is not kept at the head of City Television by his professional results, but solely by his political suitability."
"This is not a question of media freedom. This is a question of editorial conscience, abuse of public service, and attempts to present ideological regression as a cultural norm," Mašković said in a post on Iks.
