Lalatović Žižić: We will try to help solve the problem of the lack of medical staff in the Nursing Home

"Our home is beautiful. They really take care of us and nothing is too much trouble for them, but they can't accommodate everyone. There are many of us, and there are few employees. We need more nurses and caregivers," a user of the "Nikšić" Home for the Elderly complained to the President of the Municipal Assembly (MA) Milica Lalatović Žižić, who toured the Home with her associates.

In order to learn more about the functioning and needs of the aforementioned institution.

"We will strive to improve healthcare and do everything in our power to help solve the problem of the shortage of nurses and caregivers. The beneficiaries welcomed us with a lot of emotion and we saw how important every visit, every kind word addressed to them is to them. We promised them that we would visit them again, hear what their needs are and how we can help them. We realized that the visit itself and the exchange of kind words is enough for them," said the president of the SO.

She emphasized that she is delighted with how much energy and willingness employees invest in being at the service of the users of the Nursing Home. She called on the authorities in all institutions to visit the users of the Nursing Home whenever they have the opportunity, because we, as a community and society, owe them a lot.

"They have made a great contribution to our country and we are here to repay them in the days when they need us most," said Lalatović Žižić, who wished the residents of the Home good health and cheerful spirit never to leave them, promising that the Municipality will always be attentive to all their needs.

She donated books and board games to the Home.

The acting director of the Home, Jelena Banjević, said that the institution has 160 beneficiaries and that they are accepting new ones every day. She thanked the President of the Municipal Assembly for the visit and pointed out that with the help of partners, among whom the Municipality of Nikšić holds a special place, numerous challenges in the functioning of the institution she manages have been resolved.

"We have had a large number of significant donations over the past few months. We are currently expecting an important donation that we have made with the help and support of the Municipality of Nikšić. These are 50 medical beds worth 50 thousand euros. I take every opportunity to thank all the kind-hearted people who remember the most vulnerable category of people and are always there when we need help. I appeal and invite all stakeholders in the community to come and visit the beneficiaries because it means a lot to them. A kind word is the most valuable thing for them," said Banjević.

She pointed out that with the aforementioned donation, two pavilions will be fully equipped with medical beds, but that it is necessary to procure beds for the other two pavilions. She also pointed out the fact that they are facing a shortage of staff - nurses and caregivers.

The President of the Nikšić Municipal Council also attended a concert with the strings of the gusla, which was organized for the beneficiaries by Radovan Suknović, a young psychologist who is doing an internship at the aforementioned institution.
