The new parking lot in Podgorica's Block V will be free until September, a monthly ticket for citizens from that neighborhood and Block VI will cost six euros, while the price per started hour will be 0,40 euros.

Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović and his associates today toured a parking lot built on a part of the area in the immediate vicinity of the Bazar Shopping Center. The asphalt works were carried out by the city company "Putevi", on an area that has been enriched with greenery and on which public lighting has been installed.

Mujović emphasized that this is an important project through which an area that had been neglected for a long time has been cultivated.

"In the past period, we have had many complaints about illegal parking in this part of the city and I believe that this parking lot will significantly relieve traffic and the lack of parking spaces in this part of Podgorica," said Mujović, adding that the possibility of covering this parking lot with solar panels is being considered.

"This city administration is ready to tackle the problems and look for permanent, but also temporary solutions like this. We do not have time to wait for the construction of an underground garage, and therefore I believe that this solution will be of importance to citizens, because we are very aware that the lack of parking and traffic congestion are one of the most pressing problems in the city."

Mujović said that the total value of the works amounted to around 266.000 euros, of which asphalt works amounted to 220.000 euros, landscaping of the area with 31 košćela seedlings and 295 Japanese hedge seedlings amounted to around 28.000 euros, and the installation of new public lighting worth 18.000 euros, the Capital City announced.

The director of the city company "Parking Servis", Nikola Lazović, said that the goal of that company and the city administration is to work in the best interests of citizens, and that this project confirms that.

"I believe that citizens will be satisfied, both with the space that will allow them to more easily reach a parking space, and with the price, which is very favorable, especially on a monthly basis, and all residents of this part of the city with proof of residence will have the opportunity to purchase a monthly ticket."

Lazović announced that parking in Block V will be free for all citizens until September 1st.
