RTCG Management: Employees' Union Stops Implementation of Salary Increases

The salary increase for RTCG employees was agreed upon and financially secured. During months of negotiations, despite differing views on some issues, a compromise was reached that included a salary increase. This agreement was the result of a responsible approach by management, with full respect for the Union's demands and the realistic budgetary framework of the Public Service Broadcaster, RTCG management announced.

They stated this in response to allegations by the RTCG Employees' Union.

"Unfortunately, it was the RTCG Employees' Union, at the last moment and without a clear explanation, that withdrew its consent to the agreed text of the Collective Agreement, which automatically stopped the implementation of the salary increase. So, with that move, they directly prevented employees from receiving increased salaries. Also, the clearest evidence of malice is the negative presentation of investments in facility maintenance, modern technology and work equipment. Such a thing simply does not hold water. On the contrary - every serious and healthy organization prides itself on investing in its development and stability, because without a modern, safe and functional system there is neither quality content nor dignified working conditions," the statement states.

They add that RTCG has been operating according to these principles for the past few years, and that the results are proof of this.

"We are not here for walls, but without walls and equipment - there is no program. And we are paid with citizens' money - behold, miracles - precisely for the production of quality programs. That is why investments in the basic assumptions of work are not an unnecessary expense, but a sign of responsibility towards employees, the public and the mission that the Public Service has towards citizens. The authors of the failed union statement should have known that much. In this light, it is unacceptable to shift responsibility to the RTCG management. It is irresponsible to write that funds were 'separated from the mouths of workers' when the only reason why the increase was not implemented is the lack of consent of the Union. Although we understand that this is the biggest problem to explain to the employees, we do not understand why such constructions are resorted to, which are not only irresponsible, but also completely untrue and undignified," the reaction reads.
