When is Nikšićanka Jelena Pavlović After graduating from the Police Academy, she was convinced that her dreams were starting to come true. Unfortunately, fate decided to derail her life from happiness after she was diagnosed with cancer.

"After the Academy, I worked for several years. At the end of 2023, they found out that I had cervical cancer, and in January last year I had surgery in Belgrade, at the Academy of Gynecology and Obstetrics, where they had to remove everything, from the uterus, ovaries, to lymph nodes," says the thirty-two-year-old Pavlović.

Radiation followed, and she recovered after six or seven months and accepted the situation she found herself in. She was also strengthened by the fact that the results after chemotherapy were good.

"In May, I had an MRI scan that showed that the disease had returned. Now the cancer has appeared in an awkward place, between the kidney and the spine, and it is blocking my kidney function, so its function has weakened," says Pavlović, who lives with her parents in Bar.

The situation is even more difficult and Jelena practically does not leave the hospital and the Clinical Center.

"I'm very unwell now and I'm often on trodon and tranquilizers and sleeping pills. I wouldn't wish this on the worst person," she says.

Her first surgery was performed in Belgrade thanks to the help of good people and the humanost.com platform.

"I would receive bone protection in Turkey, because we don't have it at the Institute of Oncology, as well as targeted therapy, which we also don't have. That would help me prevent the disease from coming back. It takes 28.000 euros, and we have managed to raise 7.000 so far. If I manage to raise the money, I would go to Turkey after completing chemotherapy, of which I have six, and now my second one is on Friday."

Her mother is her biggest support, but also her biggest worry.

"My mother had heart surgery and when I see her stressed, I worry for her. I am happy and satisfied when my parents are smiling."

And while two or three years ago she had big and small desires, now her desires are modest.

"For me, a successful day is when I'm not in the hospital, when I'm not in pain and I drink my coffee in peace. I don't ask for anything more, and I only dream of getting well, of being free from pain and suffering, of standing on my own two feet, starting to work and returning to a somewhat normal life," says Jelena.
