The decision to establish a video surveillance system in the territory of Cetinje has received the approval of the Personal Data Protection Agency and all relevant entities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) announced.
"Thanks to the dedication of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the work of the Interdepartmental Working Group, after the Minister of Internal Affairs signed the Decision on the establishment of a video surveillance system on the territory of the Royal Capital of Cetinje, the consent of the Personal Data Protection Agency was obtained, as well as the consent of all relevant entities," the statement reads.
They said that the working group had prepared the project terms of reference, and that, after all necessary conditions were met, a decision was made to approve the location for the construction of infrastructure for the Royal Capital of Cetinje.
They add that in the coming period, technical documentation will be developed at the level of the main project, after which implementation will begin in accordance with the approved budget funds.
"The Ministry of Internal Affairs remains firmly committed to continuing to invest in projects that contribute to improving the safety of citizens and protecting their property, and video surveillance is a powerful tool that contributes not only to a more efficient response by security services, but also plays an important role in preventing the commission of criminal offenses and disruption of public order," the Ministry of Internal Affairs says.
They said that by applying modern technologies they want to contribute to strengthening citizens' trust, and that, through a future agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Royal Capital of Cetinje and the Municipality of Herceg Novi, they will also define obligations during the exploitation of video surveillance systems in these cities.
