Alliance of Montenegrin Patriots in Germany: Desirable representatives of the diaspora are being selected, while the Bosniak Party is being promoted

While numerous associations and individuals from the diaspora are making efforts to preserve their identity, culture, and ties to their homeland, the Ministry of Diaspora remained completely invisible in the first half of 2025 and without any concrete results, said the Alliance of Montenegrin Patriots in Germany.

They recalled that, according to the Government's report, the Ministry of Diaspora was the most inactive and expressed deep disappointment with the fact that this Government department had not implemented, as they say, any essential activity that would contribute to better cooperation with emigrants, strengthening institutional ties, or creating a concrete policy towards the diaspora.

"Meanwhile, closed-door gatherings are being organized in Rožaje and even at the Consulate General of Montenegro in New York, where 'desirable' representatives of the diaspora are selected, while at the same time exclusively promoting the Bosniak Party - a party that gives political legitimacy to Andrija Mandić, a man known for his negation of Montenegrin statehood," the statement from the Alliance of Patriots states.

They said that these activities insult the dignity of thousands of emigrants who are fighting for a European and civil Montenegro, and the Ministry, as they say, is silent and complicit in this farce.

"We are publicly asking the following questions: Who finances events in unregistered facilities – in the country and abroad?; Why does the Ministry of Diaspora not have any results, despite budgetary funds?; Where are the reports, conclusions, plans – apart from media images with staged meetings? and Why is it not heard clearly from the diaspora: 'How much longer?' We want to know who Minister Azemović is meeting with, which associations are represented by people from his environment, and where are the real representatives of the diaspora who would ask the right questions and demand accountability?", asks the Alliance of Patriots.

They are saying that the Montenegrin diaspora is not anyone's property, nor is it an instrument of any one party.

"We will not allow party cadres, selective promotion and the erosion of the dignity of our communities around the world to be carried out under the guise of 'cooperation with the diaspora'. Montenegro deserves a Ministry of Diaspora that will be operational, responsible and inclusive - and not a propaganda service of a political group. If institutions do not want to hear the voice of the diaspora, we will make it unavoidable."

"The time for silence is over. It is time for responsibility," the statement concluded.
