Police officers will control the unauthorized use of unmanned aerial vehicles (drones).

"The Police Directorate will, within its jurisdiction, provide support to the Civil Aviation Agency, while police officers will act preventively and repressively in order to identify, detect or report the use of unmanned aerial vehicles and their pilots," it was announced after a meeting between the Director of the Police Directorate, Lazar Šćepanović, and the Director of the Civil Aviation Agency, Ivan Šćekić.

The meeting discussed issues related to the unauthorized use of drones in Montenegro.

"Based on the successful cooperation so far, a coordinated institutional approach and action have been agreed based on increased controls and continuous activities to combat the unauthorized use of drones, as well as preventive and other specific measures and actions within their jurisdiction in order to preserve the safety and security of airspace and the citizens of Montenegro," the Police Directorate announced.

The Police Directorate and the Civil Aviation Agency appealed to all users to comply with the provisions of the Air Traffic Act and the Regulation on the Conditions for the Safe Use of Unmanned Aircraft Systems when using unmanned aircraft, which clearly define the conditions and method of their use, as well as sanctions for unauthorized use.
