Prime Minister Milojko Spajić will head the National Commission for UNESCO, his cabinet announced.

As decided at today's Government session, Spajić will chair the Commission, which in the next six months is tasked with ensuring the conditions for parts of our cultural heritage to preserve UNESCO status.

"Kotor, the Kotor Fortress, Durmitor National Park and the stećci in Žabljak and Plužine - will remain part of the most valuable natural and cultural-historical treasure on the planet," Spajić wrote in a post on social media.

"The UNESCO status of these sites will not be questioned. It is our identity but also a great development opportunity. I have joined the chairmanship of the National Commission for UNESCO and together with experts we will do everything to ensure that the special values of our country remain preserved and internationally recognized," he added.
