Azemović - Borovinić Bojović: Plans to establish a Diaspora Office within the Capital City

One of the key topics of the meeting between the Minister of Diaspora Mirsad Azemović and the President of the Capital City Assembly Jelena Borovinić Bojović was the establishment of a Diaspora Office within the Capital City, which would serve as a contact point for all citizens abroad, providing information, facilitating administrative processes and encouraging their return and investment in their home country, the Ministry of Diaspora announced today.

As announced, Azemović met with Borovinić Bojović to discuss improving cooperation with the Montenegrin diaspora through institutional and digital mechanisms.

"The meeting discussed the digital connection of the diaspora with local institutions, as well as the possibilities for simplifying administrative procedures for citizens from the diaspora, especially when it comes to issuing personal documents and accessing local government services. In this context, the possibilities of accelerated digitalization of procedures under the jurisdiction of the Capital City were discussed," the statement states.

As stated, both sides expressed their willingness to do everything within their jurisdiction to affirm and improve cooperation between the home country and the diaspora, especially considering the potential that the diaspora has in the comprehensive development and promotion of Montenegro.

"It was agreed to intensify cooperation in the coming period through specific projects and joint events, which will represent a starting point and an example of work for other local governments in Montenegro. The meeting was attended by State Secretary Adel Omeragić and Head of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora in the Region and Europe Ajla Dervišević, on behalf of the Ministry of Diaspora," the statement from the Ministry of Diaspora concludes.
