Milatović: Petnjica, although one of the youngest Montenegrin municipalities, proudly occupies a significant place on the map of Montenegro

Petnjica, although one of the youngest Montenegrin municipalities, proudly occupies a significant place on the map of our country, said the President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.

As announced by the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro, Milatović attended the ceremony marking the August 4th Petnjica Municipality Day.

"It is my pleasure to be here with you today, on a day when we celebrate an important chapter in the history of this beautiful municipality of ours. This is an opportunity to remember the journey we have gone through together, to recognize the challenges, but also to speak even more decisively about the future that this region deserves. Petnjica, although one of the youngest Montenegrin municipalities, proudly occupies a significant place on the map of our country. Here, in the heart of Bihor, in this green, honest and proud part of Montenegro, what is the essential value of our society is nurtured: respect for diversity, interethnic harmony and a sense of togetherness," said Milatović.

He emphasized that "these are the foundations on which we are building a modern Montenegro: open, European and strong."

"And that's exactly why I want to say today: Petnjica must not be forgotten. I do not agree to Petnjica being a municipality without a regular bus line, without a gas station, without a border crossing. Petnjica should no longer be a municipality of waiting, Petnjica must become a municipality of progress for all," said Milatović.

As stated in the statement, Milatović said that this region has enormous potential - natural resources, fertile land, rich history and culture, but above all: hardworking, honest and virtuous people.

"People who know what work, sacrifice and love for their homeland mean. That is the greatest wealth of Petnjica. But potential in itself means nothing if we do not create conditions for progress. That is why we need: better roads, scholarships for education and programs for youth, subsidies for farmers, even stronger support for entrepreneurs, investments that open factories and jobs, because every new factory, every field, workshop and greenhouse built means a better life, greater exports and development of Petnjica and the whole of Montenegro. Because every village has its own value, every person has their own voice and their own dignity," Milatović emphasized.

He highlighted the enormous contribution of "people who left but did not forget", through investments, knowledge, ideas and a unique emotion towards their homeland.

"Their presence here is confirmation that love for one's homeland knows no boundaries or distances. Therefore, the state has an obligation to facilitate, strengthen and make these ties more productive. As the President of the state, I stand here with you not as a guest, but as a true friend. Petnjica must be an example of what we can do when we have a vision, a plan and mutual trust," he said.

He added that Montenegro no longer "has the luxury of politics being concerned with itself, instead of what people feel: prices, salaries, a carefree life."

"It is time for stories about balanced development to become reality. It is time to replace words with deeds. Therefore, let Petnjica in the years ahead be an example that even the smallest communities can give birth to the greatest ideas and great deeds. It is up to the state to enable and support this through investments. And it is up to you, as before, not to give up. That is why I am with you today because only together can we create progress for Petnjica and the Montenegrin north. Happy Petnjica Municipality Day! Long live Petnjica! May Montenegro be eternal!", concluded President Milatović in his address.
